Almost 3,000 people killed. $10 billion in property damage. The deadliest incident for firefighters and law enforcement officers in the history of the United States. 9/11. Our nation’s tragedy. A day we will never forget.
As staggering as these losses are, the honest truth is that for me, the events of September 11 didn’t dramatically change the course of my life. In those 13 years since 9/11, I went on to live my life much in the way I had hoped I would. And for that I am grateful. Because I know there are countless people who were not as lucky. Whose hopes and dreams were shattered along with the events of 9/11. And for them, I vow never to forget.
