We rarely have house guests, aside from my mother, and so I tend to keep the door to the guest bedroom closed and pretend it’s not there. But when Zac told me his brother and his family would be staying with us for four nights, I decided I had to do something about it……

Recently, I’ve been pretty obsessed with Chicago’s latest trend of frozen cocktails. And since it’s my birthday, what better way to celebrate than with a shaved ice Shochu cocktail on the patio of Mott St Chicago. These guys have made shaving ice an art form, so if you’re in the mood for something unique (and if you like Ruxbin), check them out. But note the patio is only open from 1-6pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
